INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Trace patterns onto wood, cut out, drill any necessary holes, and sand well.
Cut roof and base pieces from 1" wide strip of wood cut to these measurements
Short roof piece - 3". Overlapping piece is 3"+the thickness of the wood you're using.
Base piece is 3" long as well.
  2. Paint all pieces as shown, or in your choice of colors.
  3. Flyspeck the pieces if you like that effect (slightly diluted paint spattered with an old scruffy toothbrush.)
  4. Allow pieces to dry thoroughly.
  5. Sand along all edges very well, and also lightly along all other surfaces to achieve an aged appearance.
  6. Glue birdhouse and signs to board as shown in diagram. Glue on base and roof pieces to both surfaces. (back and birdhouse)
  7. Varnish entire project and allow sufficient drying time.
  8. Use the antiquing medium to enhance the rustic look, and add another coat of varnish to seal.
  9. Glue on some spanish moss above the star on the heart to resemble a nest.
  10. Glue on a scrap of frayed fabric and an old country button on the star if desired.
  11. Glue on sign boards as shown in diagram.
  12. Make a wire hanger and tie on a big country bow to finish it off!
That’s it! A great choice for a birdhouse collector that goes just about anywhere!
